Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS) for the OPTOS pico-satellite

Following the design policy and guidelines of the CubeSat standard, INTA (National Aerospace Technical Institute) is projecting a system of small satellites weighing 3 kg each, in the context of a programme of low costs and shorter development time to provide easy access to Space.

OPTOS is the first pico-satellite, to be used as technological demonstration, which will be put into orbit in 2010, for a one-year mission. Among the various systems of the platform, it is necessary to include one for Attitude Determination and Control (ADCS) to optimise both the energy captured by the solar panels and the thermal control, and the operation of one of the on-board experiments: a camera based on CMOS technology. SENER is responsible for developing and supplying the ADCS software and, in turn, will provide support supplying the ACDS hardware to INTA.
