Since its beginnings, SENER has focused on the aeronautical sector as one of the markets to which it can apply its technological capacity and potential for innovation.
During the 1980s SENER, with backing from the Spanish government, was the driving force behind a new company Industria de Turbo Propulsores (ITP) that would become the Spanish member of the Eurojet consortium, created to develop and produce the new Eurofighter EJ200 engine. SENER then assumed responsibility for carrying out the engineering of the elements of the EJ200 for which Spain was responsible. During the 1990s SENER, in its role as Design Authority, was responsible for the design of the convergent-divergent nozzle of the EJ200, along with other essential elements of the motor.
Today, SENER participates in the engineering of complex structures, mainly using composite materials, including the optimisation of the manufacturing processes of composite parts, as well as providing product support services. Likewise, SENER has a business unit dedicated to designing and supply of machines for components manufacturing made from composite material.
